The goal of this five year proposal for $293,950 is to experiment with human resource incentives for health service in rural Yunnan and to do so while undertaking comparative and collaborative research between Kunming with Songkhla Medical School in Southern Thailand.

This project will conduct a cluster randomized trials to evaluate the effectiveness of providing evidence-based clinical information through short message service (SMS) via cell phones to rural township doctors.

The project will provide degrees (associate degree and higher) based on part-time or full-time training to 10,000 in-service village and township doctors. The project will also provide post-graduate and continuing medical education to 30,000 rural doctors from village to county level.

The goal of this two year proposal is to restructure medical education in PUHSC as part of a Chinese effort to meet current societal needs and to re-define professional values in medical education.

This three year project aims to provide best practice and model template to the recently announced Healthy China 2020 Initiative by the Ministry of Health.
