Comparative Study of Healthy People Plans of Different Countries and Setting up the System of Evaluating Indicators for Healthy China 2020

By summarizing the successful experiences of healthy people plans from other countries through comparative and historical studies, this three year project aims to provide best practice and model template to the recently announced Healthy China 2020 Initiative by the Ministry of Health.  This Initiative is the Ministry's major contribution to health sector reform in China, which involves multiple ministries. The project will seek to learn the successful experiences and lessons of model countries in implementing and evaluating health people plans through literature reviews and historical and comparative studies.  A study tour for core researchers will be conducted to visit the United States for understanding how other Health People initiatives have been successfully conducted. The project will attempt to develop indicators for assessing progress and performance of Healthy China 2020. The evaluation indicator system results will be first published through the Publishing House of China before dissemination through the website which will include the processing developing the evaluating indicators, the principles of selecting indicators and methods of application. A joint seminar with National Health Information Center and National Center of Disease Prevention and Control will be held to discuss the possibility of integrating the indicators off health into CDC’s monitoring indicators.
