The 8th annual Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) was held in Pattaya on January 29-31. Approximately 600 participants from over 80 countries participated in the conference with the theme “Transformative Learning for Health Equity.” The gathering focused on how reform of health professional education can advance health equity.

CMB was privileged to co-host this year’s PMAC along with the World Health Organization, the World Bank, US Agency for International Development, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

The PMAC award for medicine and public health this year was awarded to Anthony Fauci, David Ho, Jim Yong Kim, and Peter Piot. Keynote speakers at the conference included Paul Farmer, Julio Frenk, and Keizo Takemi. Themes discussed in breakout sessions included advancing global health equity, universal health coverage, and medical education reform.

PMAC14 made seven awards for outstanding teaching. Selected among nominees was Peking University Health Science Center Executive Vice President Ke Yang who was honored for Excellence in Health Professional Education.
