This three-year grant to the University of Health Sciences in Laos would support the strengthening of public health training through two doctoral fellowships for promising young Lao public health specialists to train at neighboring Khon Kaen and Mahasarakham Universities in Thailand, promoting exchange activities between these Thai and Laotian universities, and support scholarships for up to 10 Laotian students studying in UHS's new MPH program. This project will help create an initial cohort of skilled public health professionals at the national and district levels in this health-backward country that has a limited supply of public health professionals.
