Chinese Fellowships in Global Health
This two-year project would support master and doctoral degree training and shorter-term faculty development in global health at the University of Washington (U Wash). Grant funds will cover Chinese study costs, matched by U Wash investing in tuition waivers and mentoring support. Up to 12 faculty and students will be recruited on a competitive basis from six Chinese universities (Peking, Fudan, Sun Yat-Sen, Central South, Zhejiang, and Wuhan), complemented by parallel CMB seed grants in global health to these universities. This grant responds to Chinese requests for twinning with the U Wash which chairs this years US Consortium of Universities in Global Health. The budget has been structured to minimize funds going directly to US institutions but aimed at sparking longer-term global health capacity in China. This project builds on the IIE program but like London adds a twinning component to strengthen collaboration and mentorship beyond individual study abroad.
