Network for Rural Medical Education in Mongolia
This proposal of $199,795 over three years would support the Health Sciences University, the premier medical university in Mongolia, to strengthen and extend its development of training of health professionals for work in rural Mongolia. The grant would support IT infrastructure, faculty strengthening, and curriculum development at HSU in Ulaan Baatar and its three rural campuses at Dornogobi, Darkhan, and Gobi-Altai. The project builds on 15 years of CMB support that had been exclusively channeled to Dornogobi, but now broadens support for rural medical education to the national university in Mongolia, including two other rural campuses. As currently envisaged, this grant will be CMB’s terminal transitional grant in Mongolia unless there are unanticipated developments in this difficult to reach and hard to monitor country.
