This six-month grant of $144,000 will support up to 100 young Chinese and 4 special Myanmar scholars to attend the 2^nd Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR) in Beijing from October 31 to November 3, 2012.  In addition, the China Commission for Medical Education in the 21st Century will host 16 senior medical educators from five Asian countries to report on their research findings of 5-Country situation analysis in health professional educations in Thailand, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, and China. The Global Symposium on Health Systems Research has gained worldwide recognition as a leading global event in health policy and system sciences (HPSS), providing an excellent opportunity for CMB to build capacity and promote collaboration. The 2nd Symposium will evaluate progress, share insights and recalibrate the agenda of achieving universal health coverage. CMB considers this supplemental funding of participation amongst promising young Chinese researchers to be an excellent opportunity to stimulate academic interest and career development. Funding of the 5-C network continues the ongoing support of CMB for this network by capitalizing on the travel cost efficiency offered by the Second Symposium in China.
