Westlake Forum IV and CMB President's Council

This grant of $285,615 will support Westlake Forum IV and the CMB President’s Council meeting, both scheduled for Shanghai on November 17-18, 2012. Westlake IV will be co-hosted by Fudan University, Zhejiang University, the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and CMB. Westlake has grown to become a CMB branding event as a major China-based policy platform to bring together top-flight academic and policy leaders to discuss major health challenges in China. Westlake IV will have the theme of strengthening academic health systems, a timely theme in the context of China’s double reforms in education and health. The Forum’s goal is to examine the critical relationship between Chinese medical universities and their affiliated hospitals and community centers to conduct integrated education, research, and services. Participants will include presidents of CMB universities and directors of their affiliated hospitals as well as senior officials from the Ministries of Health and Education. Several CMB Trustees are planning to join Westlake as keynote speakers, moderators, and panelists. Taking advantage of Trustees travel to Shanghai, CMB is planning to conduct also a President’s Council meeting the half day before Westlake. The Council will be devoted to Trustee consultations on CMB’s strategy for its second century.
