US Westlake Conference: Promoting China-US Collaboration

In response to a CMB invitation, Emory University’s Global Health Institute designed a major conference in Atlanta in April 2011 for the explicit purpose of promoting academic exchange between leading scholars in the US and China.The conference has the specific goal of promoting concrete collaborative research and educational activities between leading groups in China and the US. This grant for $398,617 over one year would cover the US costs of the conference to be conducted in April 2011, accompanied by a parallel grant of $159,950 to Zhejiang Medical University to cover the costs of international air-travel for Chinese participants. Building on two earlier Westlake Symposiums in Hangzhou hosted by Zhejiang, this third conference Westlake III in health policy and systems studies will focus on health reform in the two countries.
