University Alliance-Based and Tutor-Focused Professional Training for Community Nurses
The proposed three-year program aims to strengthen the quality of community nursing by a “train-the-trainer” approach focusing on faculty in provincial nursing schools. International experts will be invited to assist Peking University faculty in the development of a training curriculum, manuals and audio-visual materials. Two first-level sites will be established for the training of 50-60 core tutors in theory and practice of community nursing. An additional six to eight district practice training sites will be established for the training of 200 district tutors at secondary level in four districts. The number of academic hours at each level is 200 hours of theory and 200 hours of practice. The target group of trainees would be at least three years of teaching experience with bachelor or higher degree and professional title for theory tutors and at least five years of community nursing experience with associate or higher degree or professional title for clinical teachers. A web site will be developed to support the training activities.
