Univeral Access to Essential Health Technology in China

Through field surveys, systematic reviews and consensus development, this three year project plans to formulate national strategies for ensuring essential health technologies for universal access to basic health service in China. Literature and document reviews on international and domestic publications and policy documents, field surveys of three provinces, and key interviews will assist in understanding local health problems concerning current health technologies use in community and rural health settings. A systematic review will be conducted to decide types of health technologies are most cost effective in relation to levels of economic development. Focus groups and expert meetings will be organized to examine underlying reasons for current situation in health technology utilization and to discuss national strategies and plans for guideline to strengthen essential health technology assessment and management. A national conference will be organized to disseminate the national strategies and management for universal access and a series of training courses will be organized to introduce the methodology and content the assessment and management.
