Transforming Professional Health Education Initiative

This three-year proposal from Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy aims to strengthen multi-professional education of staff for the primary health care systems of Vietnam at the first encounter commune health center (CHC) in Central Vietnam, a comparatively neglected region of the country. The training program will be designed to develop the competencies of health professionals to meet the needs of the health system especially at the primary care level through promoting inter-professional and trans-professional education to enhance collaborative and non-hierarchical relationships in effective teams. Surveys will be carried out to identify priority health problems, to measure the extent and quality of the primary care services, and to examine the training needs of health staff that includes graduates in medicine, nursing, public health, and pharmacy.  Workshops, study tours, developing teaching materials, revising textbooks and external consultants will help to redesign the training program to meet the needs of the health system, especially the needs of communities in primary care.
