Start-up of Sun Yat-sen Center for Migrant Health Policy Studies

s industrialization and urbanization bring more migrants to cities, China has embarked on an ambitious national health reform plan that aims to ensure access to primary and affordable health service for every citizen, including migrants. This two-year proposal aims to establish a research platform for multidisciplinary research and multilateral cooperation to improve health conditions of China’s migrant populations. The project aims to setup the organizational structure of a Center by establishing academic and advisory committees, research teams and a central office, holding workshops to further develop the implementation plan, inviting national and foreign experts to participate in projects, constructing an official research website and network and establishing a database that will contain the studies and research of the Center. The initial research plan will focus on major infectious diseases and occupational hazards among migrant populations while compiling literature, reviews, statistics and research reports about migrant populations. The principal investigators for this project are Professors Li Ling and Wenhua Ling.
