Research and Implementation of Education Mode for Training Practical Health Personal in Ningxia

The serious shortage of health workers in the rural areas in Ningxia results in the low level of medical services there and the rural residents' need for health care and medical services cannot be met over a long period of time. As a result, the training of the practical health workers who can go to work at grassroots level and get settled in the rural areas to provide services to local residents is an urgent need to be addressed. The project is designed as a pilot one by recruiting 200 high school graduates for three-year clinical medicine education, who are to work as rural medical workers after graduation. It is to develop appropriate training program and outline orientated by the rural grass-roots health care demand and technologies suitable for rural health care. The project is also to support the exploration and practice of related components in terms of curriculum innovation, teaching material compilation, trainers' capacity-building, and construction of experimental training bases. It is expected to complete the cultivation of students and research in 3 years. to provide some qualified health workers for rural health care posts. And, at the same time, by this pilot project, to build up a practical training mode for rural health personnel, and to establish a rural medical professionals training system in Ningxia.
