General Practitioner for China: Training of Trainers
This three-year project totaling $350,000 aims to train 1,000 trainers of General Practitioners (GPs) throughout China, as part of a major initiative of China’s health reform to provide adequate and quality GP service. The government has announced plans to educate and finance two qualified GPs for every 10,000 of population while developing 100 GP training centers across the country. Health Minister Chen Zhu has charged PUMC to develop the training model and educate the first 1,000 GP trainers for those training centers. PUMC will establish a multi-professional center and through a network approach draft curriculum, evaluate standards, and run five training courses within the next three years.
