CMB Fellowships

This two-year project provides $5,301,330 to the Institute of International Education (IIE) to execute a set of grants for three types of capacity development of Chinese medical universities -- CMB Distinguished Professorships, CMB Mid-Career Faculty Development, and CMB Next Generation Fellowships.  This program of 80 awards has been jointly developed between CMB and IIE staff. Twenty CMB Distinguished Professorships will be awarded, providing up to 10 years of flexible support for academic work to outstanding faculty at CMB universities selected by an independent international committee.; Thirty CMB Next Generation Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis to nominees from CMB-supported universities to strengthen youthful academic talent in health policy and health systems. To meet admission deadlines, these fellowships will be confined to CMB-supported universities in the first year, and up to one-third of the awardees are expected to be from other universities or self-nominations in the second year. A similar number of CMB Mid-Career Faculty Development awards would be awarded to strengthen existing faculty. IIE would undertake all aspects of project management, with appropriate consultation with CMB, including nomination solicitations, application screening, selection of review committees, and grants management including grant payments and reporting.
