CMB Profile: Zhang Nan

Zhang Nan is a policy researcher at the Research Institute for Health Policy, Inner Mongolia School of Health Management, Inner Mongolia University, currently pursuing PhD studies in health policy at Prince Songkla University. CMB supports Zhang Nan and other talented scholars in its Rural Health Network, connecting them with advances in policy research and professional education both in and outside China.

Transforming Education of Health Professionals in China?

Recently, a plethora of MOOCs (massive open online courses) have generated tremendous excitement over prospects of transforming education around the world. To investigate potentiality and pitfalls, the CMB sponsored a study tour program September 8-13, 2013 for 20 delegates from four of China’s leading medical universities, together with Chinese government officials.

CMB Profile: Hu Min

Hu Min is Lecturer at Fudan University’s School of Public Health with a research focus in Health Economics. She completed her PhD at Fudan University. Later, with the support of the CMB Faculty Development Award, she studied at Oxford University. Together with a team of young scholars, she is currently participating in CMB’s HPS Residency Training program.

Zhang Ye Succeeds Roman Xu as Director CMB Beijing Office

CMB President Lincoln Chen praised Roman Xu and Zhang Ye as they began their transition as the outgoing and incoming Directors of the CMB Beijing office, respectively. Approaching a century of work in China, CMB is looking forward to its Second Century and its anticipated centennial celebration in September 2014.

CMB Profile: Zhang Zhang

Zhang Zhang graduated from Peking University Health Science Center in June 2013, where she earned a double major in Biomedical English and Sociology. As a LSHTM-CMB Scholarship winner, she will pursue a joint master’s program at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and London School of Economics (LSE) beginning in September 2013.

HPS Residency Program: Training a New Generation of Health Policy Researchers

CMB in cooperation with the government's National Health and Family Planning Commission’s Center for Health Statistics and Information has launched a new program on strengthening research capacity of the next generation of Chinese scholars in health policy and economics.

CMB Profile: Jian Weiyan

Jian Weiyan is a lecturer at Peking University Health Science Center’s Department of Health Policy and Management where his current research focuses on health systems and health insurance. He has received research funding from multiple leading institutions, including the National Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and the China Medical Board.

Innovation in Health Professional Education in Thailand

How should a country canvass and spark innovations and leadership in health professional education? This was the purpose of a Leadership Forum on Health Professional Education Development, held in Krabi, Thailand on April 22-24. The Forum brought together 30 Thai participants to examine 10 innovative projects that had been selected as finalists through an open and competitive process.

CMB Profile: Li Youping

Professor Li Youping of Sichuan University is an expert in organ transplant immunology and engineering and an active leader in the field of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) both in China and internationally. Beginning in 1996, Li initiated development of EBM in China with the establishment of the Chinese EBM Center/Chinese Cochrane Centre which gained CMB support.
