Systems Approach for Training Advanced Clinical Nurses

This three-year project will tap into resources of the CMB China Nursing Network (CCNN) to develop the scope of practice, core competencies, curriculum and core courses, and roles and placement of nursing clinical master graduates for the Advanced Clinical Practice Nurse (ACPN). ACPN are similar to nurse practitioners in the United States. Currently, over 30 universities offer Advanced Clinical Practice Nurse (ACPN) programs. This project will systematically review the ACPN nursing clinical master program through literature review, focus group discussion and field visits, engaging stakeholders including domestic and international academics, policy makers and patients. Its aim is to translate findings for practical implementation.The Principal Investigator of this project is PUHSC nursing dean and chair of the National Advisory Committee of the ACPN program.
